Our family has been using essential oils for their healing properties for years. Any time someone gets a burn in our family, out comes the Lavender oil to help soothe and take away the sting. Recently dōTERRA Essential Oils Company was introduced to our family as a company with 100% pure oils not like those that are currently available to buy. Many of the other companies distribute products that do not use 100% pure essential oils and often use fragrant synthetic chemical substitutes to dilute or replace more expensive essential oil extracts. Try this at home: Compare the smell of dōTERRA’s 100% lavender essential oil to another lavender oil or product in your home. If your product’s fragrance is overbearing in any one note it may contain synthetic chemical substitutes. A 100% pure therapeutic-grade essential oil should have a balanced, broad fragrance profile and should smell crystal clean. Now, compare the feel of your product to dōTERRA’s essential oil. A pure essential oil should not feel slick or oily but rather absorb cleanly and completely into your skin.

We tried this test with Lemon Essential Oils. We pulled out a different brand and the dōTERRA brand and smelled each one of them side by side. The other brand smelled bitter. The dōTERRA Lemon oil smelt like we holding a lemon in front of us and smelled it instead of a bottle of oil. So then we went an extra step and put a couple drops of each in their own glasses of water. The other brand tasted just as bitter as it smelled compared to the dōTERRA oils that made the water sweet not at all bitter. All along we have been using this other brands lemon oil and until compared with the dōTERRA oil did not realize the difference in the taste, smell and quality of the 100% pure essential oils.
